How we came to be
Around 2018, MoravianLion moved out of his savanna to the UK where he wanted a fresh start. He made some friends online and ended up gathering the most notorious racers in GTA Online.
When they realized GTA public lobby is riddled with jets shooting at anything that moves, the group of friends moved to their first FiveM server. These first efforts were what would you expect. Some modded cars, excitement around custom handling and chill. We started to call this High Stakes server, as a reference to classic Need for Speed title.
After some time, racing in FiveM grew into RP server, in order to attract more mainstream players. This RP strive was very special and beloved by many, but due to various reasons, such as relying on unreliable individuals in important positions, FiveM server died for good in late 2021.
But Lion couldn’t let it go. Several months after the final FiveM shutdown, he decided to try something bold. He figured if he can learn how to make excellent maps for FiveM, he can gain enough attraction and he will finally get to choose promising people and make the dream about functional and growing FiveM server come true.
“Months, maybe a year” he thought. But how wrong he was!”
He began the work with enthusiams which carried him through several years now. While realizing how much he had to learn and the trial and error required for his vision of procedural modelling in Blender, the decision was made he also needs to make an actual career out of this.
“But how can you make a career out of making maps for FiveM? – YOu don’t!”“
Instead, his effort is now fixated on not just making assets for FiveM, but – thanks to his Blender geometry nodes – for practically any game that supports addon maps.
And while working on his one of a kind modelling tools, MoravianLion also wanted to decompress by playing online shooters. He used to love Post Scriptum, but the game eventually died off, was revived by OWI (Squad) and then have got ruined. And died off again.
Why HSC.gg existS
Finally, ArmA Reforger began to be a viable option to MoravianLion, despite years or ignorance due to various stories about general toxicity of ArmA’s playerbase. Not very interested in mods at first, he began to dip his toes on vanilla servers. This was half way though 2024.
After getting excited for version 1.3, which brought in attack helicopters, MoravianLion started to play practically every evening. Trying various community servers, he spent most of his hours on EXD where he also met some of current core members of HSC.gg. As time went on, the irritation about teamwork with random players, ranging between mid and none, deliberate team kills, lack of moderation and constant need for making Discord tickets made MoravianLion furious. He wanted more out of ArmA. He wanted more out of playing on EXD. He then applied for moderator for Reforger servers. After realization that EXD has excessive need for engagement statistics such as Discord ranks etc. and virtually no regards for “people on the ground”, MoravianLion decided to stop playing on EXD for good. And instead, HSC.gg was born, out of ashes of former High Stakes community. As a direct answer to EXD’s very different approach to playerbase.
Innitial effort of HSC.gg was focused on simply enjoying Reforger with custom vanilla missions and lack of griefing. Slowly growing over time, MoravianLion was able to lure in other ArmA players with a promise of more friendly environment, better moderation and no gate keeping. After almost a year, HSC.gg built up relationships across other communities, helped many new players and recorded truly memorable moments.
Join us sometime! We might play competitively, but we’re chill at heart.
And we won’t stop with Reforger. As we grow, our need for other games and MoravianLion’s modding effort grow with it. You will find us playing on our modded Reforger servers, Assetto Corsa servers. FiveM RP will get revived one day as well. And other games can be requested too.
